The world of leisure and tourism is rapidly changing. One of the most important consequences is that the relationship between leisure and tourism is becoming increasingly interdependent. As leisure time and expenditure have increased, tourism has become an increasingly important component of leisure. A main characteristic of both leisure and tourism today is the internationalisation, the so-called globalisation process. Leisure and tourism activities stimulate the cross-cultural interaction of people from countries all over the world. The important consequence of this dynamic world is the complexity of social, physical, economic and political issues underlying the international development of leisure and tourism.
